The city of Patra in the Peloponnese is inviting residents and visitors to explore some of its landmark sites and lesser-known destinations through a new online platform and mobile application that offers information in both English and Greek.

The “Explore Patras” online platform – https://explore.patras.gr – offers information on the city’s archaeological sites, monuments, cultural centers, routes and available wifi hotspots.

An interactive map is also available for visitors who wish to explore the city.

Visitors can download the “Explore Patras” mobile app on their iOS and Android devices and get access to information about select points of interest (buildings, squares etc) by scanning their QR code.

The app provides detailed info on 44 locations, while more will be added soon.

According to Patra Deputy Mayor Nikos Aspragathos, the new app is part of a wider project titled “Smart Technology Applications, IT and Communications, for the promotion of thematic tourism”, carried out with funds by the Western Greece Regional Operational Program.

“Through this digital application, visitors and citizens of Patra – especially young people – are able to tour the city and receive information on its most significant buildings and archaeological sites,” he said during a recent press event.

The app also offers information on the city’s leading engineers, architects and craftsmen.

Through the new app, the Municipality of Patra aims to promote its tourism offerings and cultural side, support local enterprises and promote local products.
