Representatives of seven Italian travel agencies recently had the chance to experience the outdoor activities of Arcadia in the Peloponnese and enjoy the area’s natural beauty and additional tourism offerings. The group of travel agents, which promote outdoor travel packages (trekking, hiking, rafting etc) to Italian travelers, visited Arcadia during a fam trip held in early October by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) service in Italy, headed by director Kyriaki Bousalidou, in collaboration with the Peloponnese Tourism Organization. Truffle hunting on Mt Parnonas During their stay in Arcadia, the travel agents toured some of the area’s most impressive destinations including Dimitsana, Stemnitsa and Vityna, as well as museums and monasteries. They also participated in outdoor activities such as rafting in Lousios river, trekking on Mt Menalon, climbing in Leonidio, archery in Astros and truffle hunting on Mt Parnonas. Visiting a local olive oil extraction plant. Experiential activities in Arcadia also included the collection of olives and the production of olive oil. Furthermore, the Italian travel agents took part in a workshop and had the opportunity to discuss future collaborations with local professionals. The group of Italian travel agents also included a journalist and a blogger. According to the GNTO, the travel agents were impressed by the natural beauty of Arcadia and the possibilities it offers for outdoor tourism activities.
