Surveys, Trends & Stats Searches for Greece Still Strong Among Fall Travelers by GTP editing team 19 October 2021 written by GTP editing team 19 October 2021 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 20 Demand for travel to Greece and particularly to Athens remains robust with all the more travelers choosing to visit in the fall, according to a study carried out by travel & tourism marketing agency Tourix. More specifically, the Tourix Analytics study found that Athens continued to be highly searched for among users in September this year compared to the same month in 2020 and to August 2021. Based on data from the use of 1,819 key search words, potential travelers from the US, UK and France were the top markets searching online for accommodation in the Greek capital. The number of online searches in September for Athens increased by 66 percent in Israel compared to the same month in 2020, 140 percent in the US, 285 percent in Cyprus, 51 percent in France, 78 percent in Italy, 39 percent in Τhe Netherlands, 33 percent in Germany, 80 percent in Canada, and 21 percent in the UK. Compared to August 2021, September this year saw a 161 percent rise in the number of searches from Israel, 23 percent from Cyprus, 10 percent from Germany, 10 percent from the Netherlands, and 12 percent from the UK. Declines were recorded in searches from France – down by 17 percent, from the US – down by 5 percent, from Italy – down by 1 percent, and from Canada – down by 10 percent. Overall, the volume of searches was up by 3 percent in September over August. For the whole year, driving online search volume for accommodation in Athens were users from the US, the UK, and France with demand from the US, France, and Israel up compared to a year ago.
