Minister Kikilias this weekend was on an official visit to the island of Rhodes and held successive meetings with all involved in tourism including the Dodecanese Chamber, the Rhodes Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Dodecanese Travel Agencies, the Association of Hotel Managers of the Dodecanese and the Pandodecanese Association of Tourist Bus Owners and the Rhodes Hoteliers Association. “Only with strategy, team effort and hard work, we can see even better results in Greek tourism,” the minister said to the tourism professionals. According to Kikilias, an “excellent season” is expected next year. “This will not come on its own, but with a strategy, hard work and effort,” he said, adding that results will be seen for all involved including small, medium and large Greek enterprises, Greek entrepreneurs and tourism professionals. “They will and and should get what they deserve from this successful course,” the minister highlighted. During his meeting with the Rhodes Hoteliers Association in particular, Kikilias called for the island’s hoteliers to be ready by March 2022 to welcome tourists and this way set the goal “to create a special tourist experience, so that Rhodes and the whole country functions as a 12-month destination”. “This will bring new and better paid jobs with quality and lead to an increase in GDP,” he said. Moreover, the minister described the 320 million euros in European Recovery funds that is directed to the sector as “a very important tool” available to the Tourism Ministry for infrastructure, for training of tourism workers, for strengthening green entrepreneurship, for digital upgrading and for supporting all tourism sectors. “We will all work together and we will not let it go to waste,” he concluded.
