Speaking recently in parliament, Zacharaki said the proposed amendment provides for the lease of tourism facilities in order to accommodate travelers infected with coronavirus during the winter season 2021 and not only during the tourist season, as originally planned. The current regulation expires on October 31, 2021. The Greek deputy minister went on to add that the regulation should be extended to the end of the year in order to ensure public health in view of the longer tourism season and the ongoing pandemic. Under the amendment tabled in parliament, existing leases set to expire on October 31, 2021 can be extended and new contracts can be created if required by the end of the year. She added that under the revised regulation, leased tourist facilities until December 31, 2021, will be able to continue providing accommodation to guests until the completion of the isolation period as defined by health protocols and after this date.
