Photo source: Visit Greece / Y. Skoulas French magazine Marie Claire presents Athens’ “fresh face” and city break options in a four-page article published in its autumn printed edition. Titled “La nouvelle Athènes” (the new Athens), the article refers to the Greek capital as the ideal city break destination. “Twelve years after the crisis, Athens is vibrating from a reviving energy and creativity,” journalist Sylvie Wolff says. Wolff visited Athens in June, during a press trip organized by the French service of the Greek National Tourism Organization. In her article, she proposes several experiences that can offer Marie Claire’s readers a taste of the new way of life in the Greek capital: gastronomy, art, design, wellness and accommodation in boutique hotels in the historic and commercial center as well as in the districts of Plaka, Exarchia, Koukaki, Petralonia, Kolonos and other areas towards Vouliagmeni on the Athenian Riviera and near the port of Piraeus. Wolff also proposes to travelers to visit Athens during the off-season months. As she says, travelers often visit Athens for a short stop before continuing on to the Greek islands. “And yet, Athens offers a true quality of life that many European cities would envy,” she concludes.
