During the expo, the head of the municipality’s tourism department Eleni Basoyianni and member Aimilios Neos presented the tourism offerings of Ioannina to travel professionals from Greece and abroad. While presenting the city, Neos highlighted that Ioannina offered numerous one-of-a-kind advantages, including impressive sites of interest, a unique location near mountainous regions and coastal areas, significant MICE infrastructure and the ability to host large international and domestic business conferences. According to reports, the municipality is planning to establish a local convention bureau that would attract more events and conferences to the city and help Ioannina become the third most popular MICE tourism destination in Greece, after Athens and Thessaloniki. The municipality participated in the Philoxenia expo as a co-exhibitor of the Epirus Region. Its stand was visited by Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias and Greek National Tourism Organization President Dimitris Fragakis. Moreover, during the exhibition, Ioannina Mayor Moses Elisaf presented the city’s tourism offerings to Greek and foreign media.
