Ferries in Greece will remain docked for 48 hours from Friday, December 10, due to strike action announced by the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO).

According to PNO, the strike will be effective from 12:01am on Friday, December 10 until midnight on Saturday, December 11.

PNO is demanding salary increases in the collective labor agreements for 2020 and 2021, as well as solutions to issues related to seamen’s social insurance, pensions, education, unemployment and undeclared work, among others.

The federation says employers refuse to proceed with the substantial increase of wages for seafarers.

Travelers who have booked ferry tickets for December 10-11 are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information.
