Athens’ Largest Ice Rink Opens at Kotzia Square

Athens’ largest ice rink will open its doors on Tuesday, December 14, at Kotzia Square, to give the city’s residents and visitors a special experience during the holiday season.

Set to operate until January 6, the ice rink will cover an area of 400 square meters.

“Children and adults will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on ice or get to know the sport through moments of joy, action and fun,” the Municipality of Athens said on Monday.

The ice rink will be open for children over the age of 5 and adults daily between 10am – 10pm, depending on weather conditions.

Admission is free of charge.

Trained staff will be available at the ice rink to ensure the safety of all skaters.

Visitors are required to book ahead here.

Covid-19 health protocols

All Christmas festivities in Athens center are taking place in accordance with the latest rules announced to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Adults will have access to the ice rink after presenting one of the following (also holding a valid identification document such as ID or passport):

– a vaccination certificate

– a valid recovery certificate

– a negative PCR or rapid test result (performed in the last 72 and 48 hours, respectively).

Children aged 5-17 can enter the ice rink after presenting one of the following :

– a negative self-test result (performed in the last 24 hours)

– a vaccination certificate

– a recovery certificate.
