The Kālesma Mykonos luxury hotel received two honors at the 100% Hotel Design Awards 2021 for its unique aesthetics and unparalleled design.

Held during the 100% Hotel Show exhibition last month in Athens, the awards applaud architects and designers who stand out for their work and aim to highlight the determining role design can play in hotel decoration and renovation.

Kālesma was honored in the “Best Room / Bath” and “Best Lobby / Foyer / Reception” categories.

The awards were received by Sofia Kousathana, owner of Kālesma Mykonos, and the hotel’s designers Vangelis Bonios of Studio Bonarchi and Konstantinos Karabatakis, owner of K-STUDIO.

“We warmly thank the committee and the public for giving us these two awards – proud recognitions that we share with our invaluable collaborators, Vangelis Bonios and Konstantinos Karabatakis, who brought the vision of Kālesma Mykonos into life,” Sofia Kousathana said.

Blending organic design with refined luxury

Kālesma Mykonos opened its doors on the popular island of Mykonos in May 2021. Reminiscent of a traditional Mykonian village, the modern complex of 25 suites and two villas is built on the cliffs of Ornos Bay.

The hotel’s architecture was designed exclusively by Greek design company K-STUDIO, responsible for the high-end Greek restaurant OPSO in London and the renovated Mykonos Airport.

The interiors of Kālesma were designed by Vangelis Bonios of Studio Bonarchi, the lead designer of Athenian gastronomic hotspots Pere Ubu and Sea Spice. The style of Studio Bonarchi is refined, modern, yet timeless, with each design choice prioritizing comfort and functionality while drawing attention to the quality of materials and aesthetics used.

The two designers created a harmonious synergy, seamlessly blending organic design with refined luxury. Resembling a traditional Mykonian village, Kalesma was created out of clean lines and natural materials.

Solid wood, marble, stone and chestnut wood from Mount Athos come together to create a space vibrating with energy, while linen fabrics, textural materials and understatedly elegant interiors welcome guests into a high-end sanctuary.

All suites and villas come complete with a heated pool, as well as uninterrupted sea views, private terraces, outdoor dining areas and sunbeds.
