Zervas highlighted that the Air Race World Championship is an international sport event with participants from 187 countries. He added that the event attracts approximately 511 million TV views and at least 2.5 online interactions. Τhe 2022 championship is expected to be one of the fastest three-dimensional motorsport events on the planet, creating a challenging environment where competitors will be able to embrace the latest technological developments in green power and advanced aerial mobility. During the meeting, Zervas underlined that such international events constitute an opportunity for international promotion and would bring major benefits to Thessaloniki’s economy and society. So far, Air Race events have taken place in major cities around the world including San Diego, Los Angeles, New York, St. Petersburg, Berlin and others. According to Zervas, the Air Race World Championship has a significant ecological dimension as it uses third generation biofuels with zero carbon footprint.
