The Cyprus Airways aircraft, Airbus A319, landed at Athens International Airport (AIA) at around 4pm and departed for its return journey to Larnaca around 6pm. Αt the departure gate, Filos the Athenian, the airport’s mascot, and employees of AIA, welcomed the passengers offering them sweets. Cyprus Airways will operate 3 weekly flights from Athens to Larnaca, every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. “We are excited to be back in Athens, our second home. We recognize the strong link that exists between Greece and Cyprus and the air connectivity between the two countries is always taken into consideration when planning our flight schedule,” Captain Andreas Georgiou, the Operations Manager of Cyprus Airways said. AIA Director of Communications & Marketing Ioanna Papadopoulou and Cyprus Airways PR and Marketing Manager Kiki Haida. On her part, AIA’s Director of Communications & Marketing, Ioanna Papadopoulou, said that although 2021 was yet another difficult year for aviation and tourism, the comeback of Cyprus Airways to Athens is exceptional news for AIA. “We are delighted with this reconnection, as Cyprus always has a special place in our hearts, and it is indeed one of our top markets.
