Two of Greece’s main ski centers, in Parnassos and VoraKaimaktsalan, are now open and operating, the managing Public Properties Company (ETAD) said on Thursday.

The country’s largest and most popular, the Parnassos Center has been refurbished offering 23 ski runs 34km in total, a renovated chalet and eating areas.

The Vora–Kaimaktsalan Center offers skiing on the highest slopes in Greece with a wide choice of winter sport activities for young and old.

Last week, Greek health authorities announced a revised set of rules governing the operation of ski resorts in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 over the holiday season. See more here.

According to ETAD, young skiers can use their Freedom Pass – which was extended this week to June 30, 2022 – at both ski centers. It is reminded that the Freedom Pass is a pre-paid card worth 150 euros granted to those aged 18-25 who get vaccinated. It can be used to cover costs for travel and entertainment, including air fare or ferry tickets, vehicle rentals, accommodation, admission to museums and archaeological sites.

The managing company also said it would be announcing the operation of ski schools in the coming days. Ski, snowboarding and other winter sports equipment are available for rental at ski center shops. ETAD goes on to add that the Parnassos ski center is accessible to people with disability via special ramps.

The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) announced earlier this month that it would be launching a new three-month campaign to promote Greece’s winter tourism destinations as part of the tourism ministry’s strategy to extend the season.
