The Municipality of Naoussa in Central Macedonia announced that the “3-5 Pigadia” ski center is on its way to be transformed into a mountain resort that will operate all year round.

The announcement followed the signing of the lease agreement on January 20 between the municipality and private company Oreinos Tourismos, the successful bidder of the tender launched for the operation and management of the ski center.

Located on the western side of Vermio Mountain, the ski center is located at an altitude of 1.430 – 2.005 meters, 103 km from Thessaloniki.

The duration of the lease will be 23 years with an annual rent of 31,000 euros. The agreement provides for the overall development of the “3-5 Pigadia” ski center into a mountain resort open 12 months a year. The lease agreement was signed by Naoussa Mayor Nikolas Karanikolas and the representative of Oreinos Tourismos, Alexandros Noulikas.

“After completing the public bidding and all relevant procedures, we are paving the way for the development of the ‘3-5 Pigadia’ ski center,” Mayor Karanikolas said, ensuring that the center’s location, Vermio mountain, will be protected.

“The development of our ski center is a historic opportunity for it to once again be the wider area of development,” the mayor said.

“In this direction, we will continue at a steady pace our planning and efforts, not only to preserve all infrastructure and landmarks of our municipality, but also to proceed with their upgrade and promotion,” he added.
