Photo source: @Visit Greece The Evening Standard, UK’s quality free daily newspaper, recently published a list featuring 20 of the most beautiful Greek islands that travelers should visit during the upcoming summer season. The newspaper searched among 227 inhabited islands and selected some of the most beautiful and lesser-known Greek destinations that are well worth the trip. “There is something undeniably magical about Greece in the summer,” says Evening Standard writer Laura Hampson. “Whether it’s the picturesque whitewashed villages, guaranteed blue skies or turquoise waters, island-hopping around the Aegean only seems to grow in popularity with time,” she adds. Naxos tops Evening Standard’s list for its powdery white sand beaches, cobbled alleyways, vast countryside filled with mountain villages and special historic monuments. Amorgos is in fourth place for its mountainous landscape, narrow inlets and enchanting towns ideal for hiking, diving and rock climbing. The top 5 is completed with Astypalea, a butterfly-shaped island boasting hilltops covered with historic whitewashed villages and its Chora – one of the most picturesque towns in the Aegean.
