Santorini, one of the most popular the Greek islands, in April will see the Radisson Blu Zaffron, a boho-chic resort combining luxury hospitality with Cycladic architecture, open its doors to guests from all over the world.

Set to open for 2022 on April 18 near Kamari, the resort features 103 rooms, suites and villas.

Aiming to promote the island’s experiential offers, the resort has included the word “zaffron” in its name, which derives from saffron, the distinctive red spice that can be found on Santorini.

Water is the main element of Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort, with almost every room featuring hydromassage tubs and private heated pools.

The resort also includes two central heated pools of 220sqm and 138sqm each, a pool bar and a spa that offers unique wellness treatments.

In addition, the on-site Zeffirino Restaurant will offer its guests unique views and authentic Italian culinary experiences with local products and unique recipes created by the family of Zeffirino Belloni, who also operates the historic Zeffirino restaurant in Genoa.

Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort is the first luxury hospitality venture of the Athens-based Fais Group, a distributor of a vast luxury fashion and sports brand-portfolio with world-renowned brands such as Tod’s, Hogan, Salvatore Ferragamo, Philipp Plein and many more.

It is also part of Radisson Hotel Group’s plan to expand its portfolio of properties across Greece’s main cities and resort destinations.

“With the opening of Zaffron, we aim to present our ‘sui generis’ approach to hospitality in a way that respects the island’s heritage. We also want to introduce a new idea [in hospitality] by enriching and upgrading our guests’ stay through collaborations with international brands and a wide variety of exclusive events,” said Manolis Papadakis, director of Fais’ hospitality division and general manager of the resort.

Responsible for Zaffron’s concept design and master plan are Greek-based architects Arc-Set, who wanted to respect the rugged landscape of the island, while simultaneously creating a relaxing and warm, softly textured haven.

Overseen by Designteam – Nikos Theodorakopoulos, the interior design establishes a serene and calming environment with the use of tactile materials, rich textures, and a neutral colour palette, featuring sought-after furniture and homeware brands such as Ethimo and Pols Potten. Sustainable wood surfaces are complemented by linen and cotton fabrics, while the walls are adorned with black-and-white photography that captures Santorini’s breathtaking beauty.

Keyless entry systems and other luxury amenities such as Nespresso coffee machines and Korres toiletries complete the hospitality experience.
