The announcement was made by the Halkidiki Tourism Organization following its participation in the Ferie For Alle, Scandinavia’s largest consumer holiday fair. According to the organization, charter flights between the city of Billund in Denmark and Thessaloniki will take off again for another tourism season. From Thessaloniki, the visitors will be transfered to Halkidiki. The Danish tour operator also has contracts with hotels in Northeast Halkidiki. Launched in 2020, Billund-Thessaloniki charter flights had stopped due to the pandemic. Photo source: Primo Tours “Only on the first day of the exhibition, 1,000 holiday packages were sold,” the organization said, adding that Primo Tours and tour operator Air Tour are expected to bring over 6,000 Danes to Halkidiki this year. The Ferie For Alle 2022 exhibition took place at the MCH Exhibition Center in Herning, between February 25-27. The exhibition had 660 exhibitors and attracted 41,252 visitors, mainly from the northern part of Denmark. The Halkidiki Tourism Organization participated with its own venue as a co-exhibitor in the stand of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). “Our participation in the exhibition was decisive as it gave the Danes the opportunity to learn about a unique and wonderful place with unique beaches, amazing geographical terrain, archeological sites and exceptional local products,” the organization said. During the exhibition, Halkidiki Tourism Organization General Director Giorgos Broutzas held meetings with representatives from leading Danish tour operators including Primo Tours, Bravo Tours, Tvernoe Travel Group, Mixx Travel and Kulturrjser Europa, and promoted Halkidiki’s golf tourism, luxury tourism and alternative forms of tourism. According to the organization, Halkidiki’s cultural, gastronomic, archaeological and maritime wealth, as ell as the alternative forms of tourism of the destination (camping, hiking, sailing, cycling, sports activities etc.) are the main attractions for the Scandinavian public.
