Greek authorities took one more step towards normalcy this week fully lifting capacity measures on ferries as the number of Covid-19 cases appear to be stabilizing.

The decision was announced following a meeting on Wednesday of the country’s Covid-19 committee of experts and is part of previously announced plans to fully lift restrictions by the end of March but only for those who are vaccinated and as long as infection rates allow.

Greek authorities are planning to fully lift Covid-19 measures by Orthodox Easter mid-April in efforts to facilitate tourism to the country. Among others, as of March 15, travelers will no longer be required to fill in the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) before entering Greece.

Greece also scrapped its mandatory mask-wearing requirement for outdoor spaces but experts advise citizens to continue to wearing masks outdoors in crowded areas and on public transport.

Additionally, the committee also slashed a cap for sports facilities and football fields allowing now 75 percent capacity.

Standing customers have also been allowed at bars, clubs and cafes. At the same time, events and conferences can now take place at full capacity at exhibition spaces for vaccinated-only participants.

In the meantime, epidemiologists are also considering reducing the self-test requirement from two to one weekly tests for schools in the next session. School field-trips have also been allowed.

The national public health organization (EODY) reported 23,335 new coronavirus cases in the last 24-hour period and 61 deaths.
