Two beachfront hotels on the Greek island of Crete – the Blue Sea Beach and the Marina Beach – are getting ready to open their doors under the Meliá Hotels International portfolio umbrella in April.

The announcement follows the Spanish hospitality group’s 2021 franchise agreement with Zeus Hotels.

The development, along with the renovation and rebranding of a hospitality unit on Rhodes will enhance Meliá’s EMEA portfolio.

Meliá expands to Crete

This April, the island of Crete will see the Blue Sea Beach Hotel operating as an Affiliated by Meliá hotel and the Marina Beach operating as a Sol by Meliá hotel.

The five-star Blue Sea Beach Hotel Affiliated by Meliá includes 226 rooms and suites, with some enjoying their own private pools. The hotel has expansive outdoor spaces and its facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, a fully equipped gym, a spa, two restaurants and a selection of bars to choose from.

Sol by Meliá Marina Beach Hotel, a four-star hotel, is comprised of 396 rooms, most of them freshly renovated in 2019. Facilities include two seawater pools, a heated indoor pool, a splash pool, a gym, mini-golf course and wellness centre. The hotel also hosts an events and conference centre, able to accommodate more than 300 people.

Blue Sea Beach & Sol Marina Beach are both located near Nikos Kazantzakis International Airport, allowing easy access to nearby Heraklion.

All the while, on the island of Rhodes, the Cosmopolitan Hotel, which has been receiving guests since last year, will now be welcoming them to a renovated and rebranded space, functioning under the Sol by Meliá umbrella.

Following its expansion on Crete and Rhodes, Meliá Hotels International;s portfolio in Greece includes a total of three hotels on the islands and one in Athens.
