Trade Associations - Gov Greece Looks to Further Strengthen Tourist Flows from France by GTP editing team 17 March 2022 written by GTP editing team 17 March 2022 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 18 As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen incoming tourism flows, Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias met with the board of the Greece-France Parliamentary Friendship Group of the French Senate in Athens recently. Topping the agenda of talks between the minister and Greece-France Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman Didier Marie and vice presidents Françoise Dumont and Laurence Harribey was the potential to further strengthen the already strong flow of tourists from France. Discussions during the meeting also focused on Greece’s aim to extend the tourism season and develop special interest, cruise and winter tourism, as well as city break products that can contribute to its established reputation as a top tourist destination. The members of the friendship group commended Greece on its effective management of the Covid-19 crisis which allowed French travelers to visit in safety over the last two years. Kikilias stressed that Greece would be doing the same in 2022. In the meantime, he underlined the importance of recovery funding which will be channeled into key infrastructure works that will enable Greece to welcome even more travelers in safety and comfort. Lastly, the minister briefed the members of the Greece-France Parliamentary Friendship Group on efforts to establish Greece into a model of sustainable tourism development. “We are turning to a more sustainable tourism model which takes into account a number of factors related to environmental protection, the promotion of authenticity, connection to the primary sector, the enhancement of the visitor experience and aims to showcase Greece as a global model of sustainable tourism development,” Kikilias said.
