Athens News Attica and Dubai Discuss Tourism Cooperation by GTP editing team 24 March 2022 written by GTP editing team 24 March 2022 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 Attica Governor George Patoulis and Dubai Economy and Tourism Department CEO Issam Kazim The Region of Attica and Dubai are exploring ways to strengthen ties in the tourism field with a focus on gastronomy and health/wellness tourism. While attending the Expo 2020 Dubai, Attica Governor George Patoulis met with Dubai Economy and Tourism Department CEO Issam Kazim and discussed the potential of developing common tourism initiatives and also signing a tourism cooperation protocol. “Attica offers high-level gastronomy and unique agricultural products which are the base of Greek diet,” Patoulis said after the meeting. The Greek governor informed Kazim on initiatives the Region has taken in order for its visitors to enjoy the tourism offerings of Attica: – improving accessibility with state-of-the-art infrastructure – launching of works for the regeneration of Attica’s coastal front – promoting islands in close distance to Athens. Photo source: Athens – Attica Patoulis also highlighted the positive tourism perspectives of both countries, adding that 8,000 Greek professionals are currently active in Dubai. Moreover, the governor expressed interest in the exchange of knowhow between Attica and Dubai on issues related to health, wellness and medical tourism since Attica offers specialized medical staff and state-of-the-art infrastructure. On his part, Kazim referred to Attica’s culture, gastronomy and innovation as tools of tourism development and stressed that the region’s history and unique flavors have made its tourism product known throughout the world. Patoulis and Kazim agreed to continue discussions in July during Kazim’s visit to Attica.
