UK tour operator Jet2 recently announced the launch of winter services to Athens for the first time, with flights and city breaks on sale to the Greek capital from Manchester and Birmingham airports.

Jet2 runs leisure flights through Jet2.com and package holidays through its tour operator Jet2holidays.

Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks’ Winter 22/23 programme to Athens will offer up to two weekly services (Thursday and Sunday) from each base (Manchester and Birmingham), continuing from summer 2022 to November 27 and from February 16 onwards through to summer 2023.

The announcement follows Jet2’s launch of flights and city breaks to Athens for summer 2022.

Jet2 launched its first flight to Athens for the summer on April 14.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said he expects the company’s winter programme to Athens to be hugely popular with holidaymakers looking for a “magical winter escape” from Manchester and Birmingham Airports.

“There is a lot of demand for city breaks this winter from customers and independent travel agents… Athens is a fantastic place to visit in the winter, as it is less crowded, and the weather is cooler while still offering plenty of things to see and do,” he said.

Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks will operate scheduled services to 12 city break destinations for Winter 22/23, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Budapest, Paris, Rome, Krakow, Prague and Venice.
