Specifically, traveller flows through airports increased by 575.6 percent year-on-year and traveller flows through road border-crossing points rose by 197.4 percent. According to the data, the overall increase was due to higher traveler flows from both within the EU27 (up by 371.5 percent) and outside the EU27 (up by 253.6 percent). In greater detail, the number of travelers from within the euro area rose by 433.7 percent to 118.6 thousand, while travellers from non-euro area EU27 countries increased by 292.3 percent to 68.4 thousand. Photo source: Municipality of Athens Specifically, the number of travelers from Germany increased by 429.4 percent to 41.7 thousand and travelers from France increased by 320.8 percent to 10.2 thousand. Turning to non-EU27 countries, the number of travelers from the United Kingdom rose by 544.9 percent to 23.1 thousand, while the number of travelers from the United States increased by 1,652.2 percent to 6.0 thousand and from Russia by 3,103.2 percent to 5.1 thousand. Travel receipts in February quadrupled to 133 million euros, compared to 33 million euros in the corresponding month of 2021, showing an increase of 302.5 percent. In January-February 2022, non‑residents’ arrivals grew by 282.5 percent (to 658.4 thousand) year‑on‑year, which corresponds to 56.6 percent of 2019 levels. Tourist receipts in Greece for first two months of this year reached 273 million euros, which corresponds to 63.7 percent of 2019 levels.
