A member of the Spyrou Skopelos Experience hotel chain, the Rigas Hotel is open all year round and located in the island’s main town (Chora). Over the past two years, remote work has gone from an emerging trend to a way of life for some people and companies. Working remotely became stronger in 2020 after the introduction of lockdowns and travel restrictions on a global level due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Today, this category of remote workers has become part of the new normality after Covid. The Greek government in 2021 launched its Digital Nomad Visa through Law 4825/2021 (Government Gazette A’ 157/4.9.2021), offering motives and incentives to people who want to relocate their professional activities to Greece, adjusting the terms and conditions in a way to facilitate and make such a move feasible. (For the required documents and appointment for a visa, travelers should contact a Greek consulate or embassy.)
