According to the GNTO, 98 percent of charter flights leaving western Austria’s Innsbruck Airport will land in Greece this year. “The country has gained the trust of Austrians for its excellent handling of the special circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic during the last two years,” the organization added. Co-organized by Ideal Tours, a leading travel agency in western Austria, the event at Innsbruck Airport in Tyrol was held for the promotion of Greece to 120 Austrian tourism professionals. Charter flights this year from Innsbruck Airport will head to the six Greek destinations of Kalamata, Halkidiki, Epirus, Lefkada, Kefalonia and Kavala/Thasos – a new destination for 2022. Due to the high demand for travel to Greece, Ideal Tours is expected to extend its program for 2022. Brits visit Greece for family vacations The GNTO has also confirmed the strong interest of British travelers for family vacations to Greece this year. The organization recently took part in two thematic roadshows organized in Glasgow and Southampton by the UK’s “Travel Bulletin” magazine that saw the participation of leading tour operators. During the events, Greece promoted its rich tourism product aiming to strengthen business relations with a significant number of local high-level travel agents and tourism professionals specializing in family vacations and quality tourism in the Mediterranean. The event was attended by 70 tourism professionals from Glasgow and Southampton including Barrhead, TUI, Not Just Travel, Travel Planet Scotland, Kandala Travel and others.
