The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022 opened its doors in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, on Monday under the theme “History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies”.

After a two-year hiatus, the meeting is bringing together nearly 2,500 leaders and experts from around the globe, all committed to the “Davos Spirit” of improving the state of the world.

In this context, Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis will take part in a panel discussion focusing on “Transforming tourism for Climate Action: A new model of sustainable tourism development”.

Sustainable tourism development, one of the main development aims of the GNTO’s Greek tourism strategy for the next decade, is also one of the main issues on the agenda of this year’s World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.

The panel discussion will be held by the Greek House Davos on Tuesday, May 24, at 8 pm. Athens International Airport Chairman Riccardo Lambiris and Airbnb CEO and Co-Founder Joe Gebbia will participate in the discussion.

It should be noted that this is the first year that Greece will have an organized and institutional presence at the World Economic Forum through the Greek House Davos, an independent, non-partisan and non-profit initiative that aims to enhance Greece’s presence in the environment and network of World Economic Forum.

World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022

Against the backdrop of deepening global frictions and fractures and a once-in-a-century pandemic, the unprecedented global context calls for purpose and resolve, and the meeting’s ambition is to rise to these challenges. Over the past two years, the World Economic Forum has strengthened its impact initiatives, which deal with issues ranging from COVID-19 and climate change to education as well as technology and energy governance.

For over 50 years, the World Economic Forum has been the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Annual Meeting is the focal point for leaders to accelerate the partnerships needed to tackle global challenges and shape a more sustainable and inclusive future.
