Athens and Crete this summer will host a number of flamenco dancing events as part of the “Hola” Festival and the “Vamos! Camp, two annual events that aim to bring Greek and Spanish artists together.

The flamenco dance is based on the various folklore music traditions of the region of Andalusia in southern Spain.

The fifth edition of the “Hola” Flamenco Festival will take place inside the garden of the Hellenic Archaeologists Association in Thisio, near the center of the Greek capital, during June 18-19.

The festival has invited many different artists, orchestras and choirs to collaborate in order to highlight the interconnection of flamenco with other kinds of music as well as the co-existence of music and cultures.

Among the festival’s guests is singer Alba Guerrero, who will arrive from Barcelona for two flamenco seminars open to singers of all levels.

In addition, “Hola” will host 13 dancers of the Al Aire Lire flamenco group, the Ferket Al Anwar Arab music orchestra, the choir of Rodia-Martha Mavroidi, the “Vangelis Kotsis” Polyphonic Choir of Epirus, guitarist Stavros Pressas and percussionist Yiannis Papayiannoulis.
