The news was announced during EBI’s general assembly on June 14. The EBI is made up of the national associations representing the recreational boating industry in Europe, in addition to several individual organizations as sustaining members. The organization estimates that European waters count at least 6 million boats, 36 million regular boaters and over 6,000 inland and coastal marinas. “We are looking forward to a constructive cooperation, since EBI includes professionals from both the Mediterranean region and the Baltic countries,” SITESAP President Paris Loutriotis said. According to Loutriotis, the Greek association shares common aspirations, goals and concerns with other companies in the European yachting industry. “We wish to promote sustainable maritime tourism activities in Europe, improve the legal status of the sectors involved, and highlight Europe as an international center for the maritime leisure industry,” he added. Established in 1997, Greece’s SITESAP represents some 350 companies managing and operating 2,500 chartered yachts of all types – single hull, catamaran, sail and motor boats – up to 24 meters.
