The Airports Council International (ACI World) has renewed the health accreditation certificate for the 14 Greek airports managed by Fraport Greece.

Valid for one year, the certificate confirms that the airports are implementing effective measures and best practices to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Fraport Greece handles the airports at three mainland gateways in Greece (Thessaloniki, Aktion, and Kavala) and on 11 Greek islands (Chania on Crete, Kefalonia, KosMykonos, Lesvos, Rhodes, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos and Zakynthos).

According to Fraport Greece, despite the gradual winding down of measures against the spread of Covid-19 in Greece and elsewhere, the company is not complacent and remains strongly committed to its health and hygiene program.

“Our top priority is to protect the health and safety of passengers, as well as the employees at all 14 airports,” Panagiotis Spyratos, the Chief Operations Officer of Fraport Greece, said.

The accreditation certificate issued by ACI World assures that measures in airports comply with guidelines set out by international health organizations.

“The re-certification received from Airports Council International underscores our unwavering commitment to public health and the protection of passengers and staff,” Spyratos added.

Initiatives at the 14 airports taken by Fraport Greece include regular disinfection of all airport areas, as well as enhancing contactless transactions and procedures at various points throughout the airports.

Furthermore, Fraport Greece has invested significantly in human resources training since the pandemic began.

According to the company, the goal is to prepare employees to effectively address the challenges of the pandemic crisis.

Airports Council International (ACI) is the trade association of the world’s airports and was founded in 1991 to foster cooperation among its member airports and other partners in world aviation, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization. As of January 2022, ACI serves 717 members, operating 1,950 airports in 185 countries.
