Greece Among Europe’s Safest Countries to Go on Holiday in 2022

Greece is among Europe’s safest countries to go on holiday in 2022, according to research conducted by Forbes Advisor.

The research analysed metrics such as the quality of bathing waters, healthcare, the rate of thefts and homicides and merged the results in a final safety score, to find out the safest holiday destinations for 2022.

Greece reached a score of 75/100 points in the final safety index.

The country scored high – at 98 percent – for its excellent bathing waters. Its also reached 615 points in the Euro Health Consumer Index for the quality of its healthcare system, while the average 19 PM2.5 concentration concerns its air quality.

The survey also found that the number of thefts per 100,000 inhabitants is at 583.48 and the homicides per million at 7.29.

Switzerland tops the list

According to Forbes Advisor, Switzerland is the safest country to visit this year, with a safety score of 88.3.

It is followed by Slovenia, Portugal, Austria and Germany.

“Safety can be a decisive factor when people are considering where to spend their holidays, and these figures show there are considerable differences across Europe when measuring factors such as the quality of bathing waters or the levels of theft,” said a spokesperson for Forbes Advisor.
