The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) commended the action and expressed gratitude to member hotels for their immediate response to the emergency. The HCH and the Athens – Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association called on member hotels in Attica to provide free accommodation to people who are homeless due to the fires. Those seeking shelter can call 213-1510100, give their name, telephone, address, ID and tax numbers and number of people and be advised on where accommodation can be provided. “As always, we are at the forefront of responsibility and contribution to society. The huge response from colleagues confirms the values of hospitality and solidarity that the hotel industry has consistently served over time,” said HCH President Alexandros Vassilikos. The chamber said the supply of rooms was three times more than the recorded needs. Vassilikos added that the HCH has also decided to cover the costs of hospitality services provided by its members to the fire victims until the government provides more permanent solutions. “The HCH’s decision offers immediate relief to impacted fellow citizens and the necessary time for the state to plan more permanent solutions. In difficult times, we must all stand united,” Vassilikos added. Copernicus mapping of the Eastern Attica areas affected by forestfires (July 20).
