Under the name “Athens Shopping”, the online guide offers information on the city’s shops and trade businesses based on category (F&B, catering, food, homeware, electrical appliances, jewelry, gifts, fashion, bookstores, department stores and more) and neighborhood. The new digital platform is already operating on a pilot scheme in Greek. An English version is expected to launch soon. “Athens Shopping” was created through the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (EATA) as a result of the ongoing collaboration between the Municipality of Athens and the Athens Traders’ Association. According to Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis, the digital platform is aimed to support the market of Athens and stimulate the city’s economy. “These are the main goals of every initiative and action undertaken by the Municipality of Athens. We have developed a valuable partnership with the Athens Traders’ Association and are implementing a number of actions that aim to benefit professionals who are running businesses in the city’s 129 neighborhoods,” he said following the platform’s launch. On his part, Athens Traders’ Association President Stavros Kafounis thanked all parties involved in the platform’s development and called on the owners of shops and businesses in the city to register on “Athens Shopping” to promote their products, services and offers to residents and visitors. The online guide is available at www.athenshopping.gr.
