Destinations news Cycling Event: Open Road and Mountain Bike Races in Orini Nafpaktia by GTP editing team 11 August 2022 written by GTP editing team 11 August 2022 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 19 The village of Ano Chora in Orini (mountainous) Nafpaktia in Western Greece is preparing to host the 12th Cycling Races, an annual sports event scheduled to take place during August 20-21. The event will feature open road and mountain bike races through paths that will take cyclists to Nafpaktia’s forests at an altitude of 1,100 meters. The event will include a 40-km route for mountain bikes, a 26-km for e-bikes and an asphalt route of 35km that will lead cyclists around the villages of mountainous Nafpaktia. The 12th Cycling Races event will host top athletes from Greece including marathon mountain biker Periklis Ilias, road bike master Loukas Katopodis, cycling champions Alexandra Adam and Giorgos Dantos, and many more. Organized since 2011, the cycling event promotes the mountain region of Orini Nafpaktia as an all-season destination. “This is an excellent annual event that aims to showcase the mountainous area of Nafpaktia. It attracts both cycling enthusiasts and renowned athletes, whom we are waiting for again this year to live a unique and safe cycling experience,” Nafpaktia Deputy Mayor Dinos Tsoukalas said. The event is co-organized by the Municipality of Nafpaktia, the Region of Western Greece, the Prasino+Mple environmental organization with the approval of the Hellenic Cycling Federation. Orini Nafpaktia is located 270km northwest of Athens and 55km from the seaside town of Nafpaktos.
