Athens and Greece Maintain Strong Online Reputation in Q2

Athens and Greece are still garnering positive feedback online in the second quarter (Q2) of the year and in June, according to the Athens/Greece Sentiment Tracker released by INSETE, the research body of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), in collaboration with TCI Research.

Opinion-makers online praise Athens and Greece for its culture, gastronomy, nature offerings and accommodation.

According to INSETE analysts, the Greek summer experience is expected to boost even higher impressions shared online.

The report assesses big data about Greece and Athens compared to rival destinations such as Italy, Spain and Portugal to conclude on reputation and tourist experience.

Greece and Athens remain attractive destinations in Q2 despite the Russia-Ukraine war and the energy crisis.

More specifically, according to findings of the Athens/Greece Sentiment Tracker for June 2022, Greece’s net sentiment score (52) surpassed once again those of Portugal and Spain (+12) but remained below Italy (-1 points).

Top online concerns include Covid-19 measures, pandemic management, flight cancellations and airport experiences.

Athens’ online reputation in June was at 62 points – +10 points above Greece’s score and down by 6 points compared to May.

Greece has also managed for the third consecutive month to garner a 9.0 point average in terms of accommodation, food and drink, and attractions.

The country also won points in online social media conversations in May pushing its e-reputation up compared to rival markets under investigation.
