According to an announcement, the meeting will focus on topics concerning European tourism, as well as the management and decision-making on current travel issues. This will be ECTAA’s first meeting in Greece for 2022, since the organization announced the country as its “preferred destination for 2022” following an agreement with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in April. Under the agreement, ECTAA promotes Greece as its preferred travel destination for a year among its 70,000 member travel agents and tour operators in Europe. While in Chania, ECTAA delegates will have the chance to experience first-hand Greece beyond its summer season and also explore the possibility of holding future congresses in Greece. According to the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies’ (HATTA), an ECTAA member, the organization’s visit is very encouraging and optimistic, as in the midst of a special tourist season, Greece is looking forward to the further development of tourism for 2023. “The travel agencies of Europe will come together for a multi-level cooperation to increase tourist flows in European countries and Greece expects to greatly benefit from this,” HATTA said.
