UK leisure travel group Jet2 recently announced the launch of a new route from London Stansted to Athens as part of its expanded Winter City Breaks program for 2023/2024.

The new program sees up to two weekly flights operating between London Stansted and Athens.

Jet2 runs leisure flights through Jet2.com and package holidays through its tour operator Jet2holidays.

In addition to the new London Stansted-Athens winter city route, Jet2 said it will offer additional services to Athens from Manchester Airport in December and January (up to two weekly flights), which means it will be operating year-round services to the capital of Greece from the base.

Jet2’s Winter City Breaks program for 2023/2024 also includes up to two weekly services between Athens and Birmingham.

“There is a lot of demand for city breaks next winter, as we know people are looking to book further ahead,” Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said.

Jet2 in total is offering a choice of eight leisure city break destinations for winter 2023/2024, with flights and city breaks going on sale from six UK bases – Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted. The expanded program offers 28 routes to eight popular city break favourites – Athens, Barcelona, Budapest, Krakow, Paris, Prague, Rome and Venice.

“As always, we want to deliver what our customers and independent travel agent partners want, so have put on sale a fantastic selection of city break destinations to choose from in Winter 23/24,” Heapy said.

Jet2 first launched flights and city break package holidays to Athens in April 2021.
