Destinations news ‘Taste of Loutraki’ Places Corinthia Food on Travel Map by GTP editing team 12 September 2022 written by GTP editing team 12 September 2022 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 25 The “Taste of Loutraki” event held in the coastal town of Loutraki near Corinth showcased the region through its traditions, products and gastronomy through a series of interactive activities aiming to enhance the overall tourist experience. The three-day foodie event which took place earlier this month featured the very best of Corinthia cuisine and production with a series of workshops, master classes, seminars, tastings and experiences including a tour of the recently opened Corinth Canal (also known as the Isthmus of Corinth) and of the ancient site of Nemea. Dozens of restauranters, producers, olive oil, wine, raisin and traditional foods experts, journalists and local officials participated in the Taste of Loutraki, the first such event in the Peloponnese municipality of Corinth which organizers hope will become a favorite annual happening. The event was jointly organized by the Loutraki Tourism Organization (Visit Loutraki), the Xenios Zeus Association, the Corinth Chamber and local hoteliers in collaboration with event planners Respond on Demand and the support of the Peloponnese Region, the Loutraki-Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi Municipality, the Corinthia Hotel Association and the Loutraki-Perachora Port Authority. Among others, participants had a chance to sample local sweets made with the famous Corinth raisin, locally-produced beer, pasta, wines, and olive oil. Organizers expressed their satisfaction with the turnout this year and announced plans for the next Taste of Loutraki to take place on June 16-18, 2023. An hour’s drive from Athens, the coastal town of Loutraki was among the top tourist destinations in the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s thanks to its spas and natural springs and to its casino. Efforts have been made over the past years to rebrand and reach out to new markets.
