Five main events on Santorini, Corfu, Nafpaktos, Sifnos and Mykonos will be held in the coming weeks aiming to attract athletes, amateur sportspeople and travelers from Greece and the world. Santorini First on the agenda on September 23-25, the 6th “Santorini Experience” combining a 1.5km open water swim from the volcano to the old port of Fira and a half marathon through iconic villages such as Oia, Imerovigli and Fira. Corfu On September 24, the “Corfu Old Town Trail” invites runners to test their mettle in 7km and 14km runs that pass through the old town of the island, an UNESCO World Heritage site. This year, the event includes dozens of cultural happenings. Nafpaktos In Nafpaktos, Western Greece, the “Lepanto Formula Kite European Championships 2022” are set to take place on September 24-October 2 as part of commemorative events for the 451 years since the city’s naval historic battle. More than 150 athletes from Greece and abroad are ready to get their boards ‘flying’. Sifnos On the island of Sifnos, on October 1, the 2nd International Sifnos Street Shot Put Meeting kicks off with parallel events and workshops for participants wishing to learn more about the Cycladic island’s traditions. Mykonos Last, during October 1-2, for the first time, the “Mykonos Running Festival” that includes a half marathon (Mykonos Gold), 10km health and dynamic walking routes (Mykonos Run), and a 2.5km run for kids and families (Mykonos Family Run). Also during the festival beach parties, local food shows (Mykonos Food Festival), and a Business Forum for enterprises active in travel, hospitality and tourism.
