Dubbed Mystery_50 Ecoculture Festival^, the event draws its theme from the environment, ecology and sustainability and will be the first ever ecoculture festival organized in the city and the wider area. The event is one of the key legacy actions of the 2023 Eleusis programme, while it also sees the reopening of the former camping site, OASIS. Scheduled for September 24-25, the festival will include workshops with the participation of scientists and researchers on the history and contemporary reality of Elefsina and the surrounding areas; artistic events and parallel activities, such as walks in the city’s neighborhoods, workshops for children, picnics with music by local DJs and music groups; guided tours; cycling routes; and gastronomic meetings. Admission is free with seat (pre)reservation. The program The first experimental edition of the Ecoculture Festival^ will feature the Ecoculture Dialogues, a series of diverse and interesting discussions on sustainable innovation and the agri-food sector, while children ages 8 to 14 will have the opportunity to attend Mystery_46 Modular Gardens, a gardening workshop, which combines gardening with new technologies. Various parallel activities complement the festival’s programme, such as the 2023 Eleusis Open Farm Days with more than 15 local farms welcoming the general public and presenting their products, cycling routes through the city and on the train tracks (railbiking), screenings of films and documentaries about the environment, as well as a picnic with music by local DJs from Eleusis and the surrounding area. Furthermore, Mystery_38 Music from the Houses, under the directorial curation of Georgia Mavragani, will take place on September 24, which involves on-site tours in the Pontian settlement of Elefsina with selected music flowing into the public space through the doors and windows of the houses. This will be directly followed by Mystery_49 Symposium #2 – Black Sea, an experiential journey around the flavors and customs of Pontos, with a main focus on cultural exchange and the promotion of the gastronomic culture of the place, in cooperation with the Pontian Association of Elefsina “Nea Trapezounta.” In the context of the first ecoculture festival in Elefsina, free transportation from Athens to Elefsina with return is offered on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September.
