The 29th edition of the prestigious tourism industry awards honored Athens as Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination while the Region of Attica was named Europe’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination. Triumphant at the red carpet event were a number of Greek hotels in various categories with Greek travel agencies and specialized tourism bureaus also receiving top honors. Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards brand is recognized worldwide as a hallmark of quality with its honorees setting a high bar of innovation, excellence, and best practice in the industry. “WTA had the privilege of recognizing the industry’s leading lights from across Europe. As stellar examples of tourism excellence, our winners have helped the industry to raise the collective benchmark” said Graham Cooke, Founder of WTA while discussing the European regional awards event.
