Greek airline SKY express from November 2 will operate five weekly flights between Athens and Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital city. According to SKY express, the new route will be operated with Greece’s newest and greenest fleet on the most competitive terms. The addition of Sofia to SKY express’ flight program further strengthens the international course of the airline, especially after a highly demanding summer in which the airline consistently served 34 domestic and 24 international destinations. “Within a short time from our first international flight, we are spreading our wings to the 10th international destination that we serve all year round with the newest and greenest fleet in Greece. This can only give us further impetus for the next steps of SKY express’s long-term plan,” SKY express Network Planning & Pricing Manager Vassilis Krasanakis said. With the new route passengers have more travel options and connectivity opportunities for business or leisure tourism, throughout the year. On his part, Sofia Airport CEO Jesus Caballero highlighted that Sky Express is coming to Sofia Airport at a time when travelling is regaining momentum. “As to confirm Sofia Airport’s commitment to enrich the network with new airlines and new flight offerings, Sky Express adds yet another Athens connection bringing Mediterranean at one stop by air,” Caballero said. Moreover, he added that the news comes in line with the transformation plan of Sofia Airport into a 5-star regional airport bringing passenger and cargo service to excellence.
