Previously the Country Manager for Egypt and Libya, Ghanim replaces Khalid Al Zarooni who has become Country Manager for Kuwait and Iraq The change comes as part of wider move of Emirates’ commercial executives to Europe, West Asia, the Middle East and the Far East as the airline, taking into account the increase in travel demand and the easing of restrictions, aims to further strengthen its network on a global global level. Emirates’ new Country Manager for Greece and Albania, Ibrahim Ghanim, began his career at the airline from Zimbabwe. He then joined the Emirates team in Tunisia, where he stayed for about three years. He was then the airline’s Country Manager for Egypt and Libya, a position he held for three years. The Emirates B777-300ER landing at Athens International Airport. “As we accelerate our operations recovery and channel our collective energies towards rebuilding the aviation ecosystem, it’s imperative that we create opportunities for our talented managers to utilise their capabilities, experiences and leadership skills to the fullest,” said Emirates Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim. Emirates’ latest move sees 11 seasoned UAE Nationals positioned in vital markets (Ireland, Kuwait & Iraq, Greece & Albania, Egypt & Libya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tunisia, Thailand, Vietnam, Riyadh, Pakistan and Dubai) where they will lead the airline’s commercial operations and bring their skills and experience to drive growth and develop new strategies. In addition, they will be responsible for strengthening Emirates’ partnerships and footprint in their assigned markets. According to Kazim, Emirates’ commercial outstation program is in line with the strategy advocated by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, that reaffirms the airline’s commitment to nurturing Emiratis by providing them opportunities to advance their careers and eventually become future leaders. “I’m proud of our UAE Nationals who support our business and represent the airline in some of its most strategic markets, and look forward to seeing the new team create innovative prospects into their new roles,” he added.
