Organized by the Region of Peloponnese in collaboration with local businesses and associations, the festival’s first edition was hailed a success by locals and visitors, who had the chance to sample the region’s gastronomy and experience its vast history and culture through the festival’s five-stop journey. Previous stops of the Peloponnese food stories included the Greek fishing village of Tolo in Argolis, the coastal area of Astros in Kinouria, the town of Koroni in Messinia and the small town of Areopoli in Laconia. Last stop: Trikala Korinthias The final event, which unraveled under clear and crisp skies, included showcases by famous Greek chefs and local cooks who presented their own versions of traditional sweet and savory pies. Their creations included ingredients like the famous Corinthian raisins and caper or chick peas from the area of Feneos also known as the Peloponnese “little Switzerland”. Children were introduced to grape – must bagel making while guests, food bloggers and media representatives were thrilled to taste a variety of locally produced wines and agricultural products representing the best Mediterranean cuisine has to offer. Following the tradition of all typical Greek food and drink celebrations the event went out with a music & dance bang offered by the Passepartout Band and the local “Choranthi” cultural association. With its inaugural edition, the Peloponnese Food Stories managed to create a contemporary exploration route for the region’s visitors who seek new and alternative tourism experiences, thus enriching the diversity of the Greek tourism product.
