INSETE analysts note that the decline in net sentiment score can be seen across most of Greece’s markets and is expected as the peak summer season comes to a close.

Online conversations about Covid-19 were on a downward trend in Greece and Athens in Q3 but users are still concerned about hygiene-related factors and crowds.

The report goes on to note that sentiment was down on Q2 in all tourism-related topics more so however with regard to the environment and sustainable travel (-29 points). Negative sentiment according to the report focused on climate-related issues.

In Q2, Greece’s outdid Portugal and Spain (+12) in terms of net sentiment score but remained below Italy (-1 points). Social media users praised Athens and Greece for culture, gastronomy, nature offerings and accommodation.
