Greece’s accommodation services providers saw turnover in the third quarter (Q3) of the year increase by 38.6 percent driven by strong tourism demand, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). More specifically, according to ELSTAT’s monthly data, accommodation activity turnover during July–September came to 5,116,612,280 euros against 3,691,771,473 euros in the same period in 2021. Leading the way was the regional unit of Kos in the Dodecanese, marking a 60.6 percent rise in Q3 turnover compared to the same period in 2021 with the regional unit of Lassithi on Crete reporting the smallest increase by 14.5 percent. At the same time, F&B services providers saw Q3 turnover increase by 23.8 percent to 3,086,944,873 euros compared to 2,493,793,109 euros in third quarter 2021. Rhodes recorded the largest rise in the turnover by 53.5 percent and the regional unit Achaia the smallest increase by 2.8 percent. In September, accommodation activity generated a total of 1,141,961,800 euros in turnover marking a 36.3 percent increase compared to the same month a year ago and 837,649,666 euros. F&B services providers in the same month reported a 20.4 percent rise in turnover to 212,441,653 euros compared to 176,433,963 euros in September 2021. Overall, accommodation and F&B services reported a 33.6 percent rise in turnover in September to 1,354,403,453 euro against 1,014,083,628 euros a year earlier. The largest total increase in turnover for both sectors was recorded on Kos up by 48.2 percent in September and the smallest by 6.5 percent in Achaia.
