Athens, Greece.

Athens, Santorini and Mykonos are among the top 50 European cities with the most picturesque homes, according to research released recently by the Alan Boswell Group.

Experts from the 35-year-old UK insurance company compiled the list motivated by a 50% surge in Google searches for ‘most beautiful European cities’ which was noted during the last three months.

Utilizing image-sharing platform Pinterest, Alan Boswell Group obtained the total number of pins and boards each European city has garnered and compiled the final list by combining additional information by online articles and relevant organizations.

According to the company, Athens garnered a final aesthetic score of 8.59 out of 10 and found itself in the 7th position in the list tying with Italy’s Venice.

Mykonos, Greece.

Alan Boswell Group cited English poet John Milton who describes Athens as “the eye of Greece, mother of arts and eloquence” to comment the Greek capital’s top 10 placing.

“Although the Acropolis grabs most of the attention, there is more to Athens’ architecture than the ruins which overlook the city,” said the insurance company adding that “the architecture of Athens is a combination of modern European stylings, along with a hint of the Middle East.”

Cyclades’ Santorini placed 17th with a score of 6.8/10 and cosmopolitan Mykonos found itself at position number 31 in the Top 50 “European Cities with Most Beautiful Homes” list.

Santorini, Greece.

Topping the list, England’s capital London earned a near perfect score 9.81/10, recognizing its historic English Baroque style buildings which today stand next to prime examples of contemporary architecture across the city.

Berlin, Germany and Paris, France rounded up the top three spots of the list.
