Greece and the ports of Piraeus, Santorini, Mykonos and Rhodes were among the most requested luxury cruise destinations last month, according to a survey published by CruiseCompete. The company, considered a premier online cruise marketplace since 2003, is a free and anonymous service that helps cruisers find the best value for a future cruise vacation and links them with travel agents. Using its wealth of data, with an average of 25,000 quotes each month, the site issues its monthly “CruiseTrends” report to showcase what’s globally popular among consumers, including the top ships, lines, destinations and travel dates for premium, luxury, and river cruising. In its November 2022 report, Greece topped the “Most Popular Countries Visited” list in the luxury cruise category while the port of Piraeus came second in the “Most Popular Cruise Departure Ports” list (luxury cruise category) just behind the port of Miami. The placings mark an improvement compared to the October 2022 report, where Greece was 4th in the countries’ category, Piraeus was 6th, and the Greek islands were not placed in the top 10 list. Europe topped the luxury and river cruise categories as the “World’s Most Popular Cruise Region” in CruiseCompete’s November 2022 report, while Spain and Italy followed Greece in the top 3. Greece was also recently recognized as a “Passengers’ Favorite Cruise Destination” at the Wave Awards 2022.
