Thessaloniki and the Central Macedonia Region attracted the interest of global MICE stakeholders and corporate events organizers during the IBTM World 2022 event held recently in Barcelona. The IBTM World is one of the most important exhibitions of the international MICE tourism industry with over 2200 exhibitors and 150 countries participating in the expo. The Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB) represented Thessaloniki and the Central Macedonia Region at the exhibition and held over 55 scheduled meetings with international hosted buyers, representatives of global associations, professional conference organizers (PCOs) and organizers of corporate events and incentive trips. The officials presented Thessaloniki’s quality features as a MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) destination, analyzed its prospects and discussed its possibilities. Aiming to promote the region’s conference tourism product, TCB is carrying out an integrated destination promotion plan while strategically adding new initiatives and targeted actions for outreach. Following TCB’s successful participation in the IBTM World 2022, its officials will travel to Tel Aviv, Israel, for its sold-out inaugural “Connect on Tour” event. The one day event, scheduled to take place on December 13, will see TCB, the Central Macedonia Region, the Halkidiki Tourism Organization and representatives from 20 local tourism businesses, participate in more than 400 hundred pre-scheduled meetings to promote the area as a multi–purpose destination and launch new collaborations.
