Launched in 2004, Global Traveler (GT) magazine boasts a readership of more than 500,000 people, aiming at connecting brands with US-based frequent business and luxury travelers. The 19th edition of its Tested Reader Survey ran for 9 months and saw 1,5 million votes cast by 22.000 readers in 80 categories. The majority of this year’s voters were CEOs and owners of companies. Greece’s honor comes after multiple recognitions by the United States tourism market. Last June Greece was named “Best Historical Attractions International” destination at the Leisure Lifestyle Awards, while it also won the coveted title of “Favorite Country” for a third year in a row at “The Trazees”. Last November the country also received four awards at the “Travel Oscars”, the 2022 Travvy Awards. Gallagher, Global Traveler’s publisher and CEO. Following Greece in GT’s top 5 international “Best Tourism Destinations” for 2022 were Italy, Spain, Mexico and Ireland. “I’m proud of all the winners, past and present; and our readers who know and voted for the true stars of the travel industry,” Gallagher added. Other notable winners in GT’s 2022 Tested Reader Survey Awards included: Singapore Airlines taking top honors as Best Overall Airline in the World; Hamad International Airport, Doha named Best Overall Airport in the World and The St. Regis Singapore winning Best Individual Hotel in the World.
