Omonoia Christmas Market Opens in Athens!

The Municipality of Athens is inviting residents and visitors to come down to Omonoia Square these days and experience a bit of holiday magic.

For 16 days, Omonoia, one of the most famous square’s of Athens, will be home to a special Christmas market. Everyone is invited to experience tasty treats, live music, events, activities for the whole family and even get some unique gift ideas!

The Omonoia Christmas Market will kick off on Saturday, December 17, with a DJ set by Maria Papidaki / Best 92.6.

Official opening on Sunday with Athens Mayor

The market’s official opening will be on Sunday, December 18, at 7pm. The fun will start with a Red Bull DJ Show with Xenia Ghali and at 7:40pm continue with a 20-minute show of the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra. Then, at 8pm, Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis will hold the official opening ceremony and the fun will continue with a performance by the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Omonoia Christmas Market will run until January 1, 2023. The market’s music program can be found here.

The Omonoia Christmas Market will take place as part of the municipality’s Christmas in Athens program that includes concerts, performances, parties, shows, workshops, and happenings until January 7 in 129 neighborhoods and 35 squares across the city. The full program of events can be found here.
